Pastured Poultry
Our chicks come to the farm at 1-3 days old, and are immediately placed into our brooder.
In the brooder, chicks have access to food 24-hours per day, as well as access to a heat lamp for temperature regulation.
At 1 week old, 24-hour feeding stops, and feed is removed during the evening hours.
At 2 weeks old, we begin removing heat lamps in order to prepare the chicks for life outside.
When the chicks are fully feathered and ready, we move them out onto pasture, where they live in “chicken tractors.”
From this point until butcher weight, the chickens are moved daily onto fresh pasture, while still having access to organic local feed and fresh water.
